So todays post goes with a story, just because i like to know the story behind the facts. I live 13thousands kms away from my bridesmaids. Hubby suggested to me to buy something online on our home country as a formal invitation, flowers, champagne, chocolate, something that could be easily bought online and delivered in their houses. Well, i could have done that, easily, but i love doing things by myself, with my own hands. So this special occasion wouldn't be different. So we decided I was going to do it on my way and he would buy some whiskey online for this groomsmen's invitation.
The most difficult part was to reduce the number of bridesmaids from 8 to 6 as we didn't have much money to spend. I decided to go and buy some little treats that i enjoy, like hand cream, lip balms, nailpolishes, chocolates, some tea, and things like that. I also bought a clutch handbag for the girls. I divided in groups, for the skin, for the hair, for the hands and for the soul.
The last bit was to find a box to put everything inside. My first idea was to buy a simple box and wrap it with some cute paper, but when i saw that box i felt in love with. It matches with the wedding theme so i decided to buy them. To make the tags and cards i used i thick paper and i dipped it into a mix of water and food colouring a few times, to get a colour gradient. Last bit was to write the invitation, i have a horrible handwriting but i decided to do it by hand anyway, i thing it is more personal. Some cute stamps on the envelope and it was done.
I send it throught NZ post and i started praying to get in Brazil, unfortunately it is very commum to things to 'desappear' from the brazilian post (correios). A few days after i sent it i got the nail polishes back from the NZpost. I didn't know they were prohibit items to post. Lesson learned but i got worried that other things would desappear or that the boxes wouldn't be well closed and things would get messy inside. I was wrong NZpost did a great job and repack everything very well. Thanks!!! Cant say the same thing about the brazilian post, the Correios end up charging the girls heaps of money to receive the invitation, it was supposed to be a surprise for them but instead of receiving the invitation they received a bill to pay. =/ not nice but we sorted it out at the end and they loved the invitations, and i loved even more the fact that they liked, and accepted the invitation. Love you girls!
When hubby saw the boxes ready he changed his mind and decided that he also wanted to do something special for the boys... Best compliment I could have got! But that is something for next week's post...
